Dr. Wendy Mayes-Beasly

In my first year of medical school I saw the amazing things that modern medicine could offer, but I also saw its limitations. Since then, I have dedicated my life to learning about mainstream/allopathic medicine and alternative medicine. I have been privileged to study with truly outstanding doctors, herbalists, pharmacists, naturopathic doctors, massage therapists, and many other healing practitioners. My goal is to integrate different healing modalities to provide truly holistic care for individuals and families.

After more than 20 years of pursuing various types of “cutting edge”, “alternative”, and other training, it has been humbling to realize that the single most important tool for healing is compassion. The ability to simply be with someone and care about them on a deep level- that is the foundation for all my life’s work.

In my previous practices, I was under pressure to see patients quickly and to meet the demands of insurance companies. At Harmony Center I can spend plenty of time with each patient, and the only goals we discuss will be yours! I want to know my patients and their families. How could I possibly offer suggestions for healing if I don’t take the time to learn what is important to my patients? How can a patient feel comfortable expressing their concerns to someone who is in a rush? Time and compassion are the most valuable things I can offer my patients.

In addition, I am constantly expanding offerings to the patients under my care. I was fortunate to do a fellowship in Integrative Medicine, which allowed me to tailor my training to the alternative methods of my choice. I studied herbal medicine for several years and was able to incorporate it into my practice. More recently I have studied Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy as well as the use of homeopathic remedies.

I am passionate about taking care of whole families and communities! I love to see infants, children, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, etc. I have come to understand that the journey of good health cannot be an individual journey- we all need each other!
